On the Îles de la Madeleine, people use heating oil to heat their homes! The Centrale thermique d'Hydro-Québec uses heating oil to produce the electricity used by the Islanders. During your visit of the station, a guide will explain you how heating oil can be transformed into material powerful enough to light up the houses and commercial buildings of the Islands. Free guided tour offered by reservation. People over 18 years of age must show a valid identification card.
