In the little village of Étang-du-Nord, visit the parc de Gros-Cap, its cliffs and caves. On the site, you will have the chance to go on sea kayak excursions and find a campground and a youth hostel. On your way back, you can admire the wooden church of Lavernière, classified historical monument of Quebec in 1992 and one of the largest wooden churches that still exist in North America.
In August, art lovers will be pleased by the Figurative Painting Symposium, an important exhibition and sale of paintings representing the landscapes of the Magdalen Islands, as seen by the local painters. On the chemin Boisville, you can stop at the Club de golf des Îles, a 9-hole golf course, and farther, you can visit the fishing harbour of Étang-du-Nord. The Market Place will also charm you with its boutiques, its night clubs and its restaurants with terrace. This is also where the Fête aux Saveurs de la Mer takes place in June. This is an important celebration where you can taste seafood and country food. On the cap Hérissé, you will see the Étang-du-Nord lighthouse where you can observe the sunset.
